Since 1986 Perry Mandera has led The Custom Companies, Inc., in Northlake, Illinois. An active member of the transportation industry, Perry Mandera has joined many other transportation executives in supporting Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT), a nonprofit group that mobilizes members of the trucking industry to combat human trafficking.

In addition to its work educating the trucking community through its core program, the Industry Training Program, TAT works to raise the public’s awareness of human trafficking through its Freedom Drivers Project. Launched in 2014, the Freedom Drivers Project is a mobile exhibit featuring educational materials, video displays, and artifacts from trafficking cases inside a 48-foot Great Dane semi-trailer.
Since its unveiling at the 2014 Great American Trucking Show in Dallas, Texas, the exhibit has toured the country and appeared at a number of events, including the 2016 Rotary World Peace Conference. The Freedom Drivers Project has also made stops at the CMCA Truck Driving Championship, the Mid-America Trucking Show, and NYSMTA Day at the Capitol. The exhibit is sponsored by a number of trucking industry companies, including Great Dane, Peterbilt, and Volvo Trucks.
